My Final Goodbyes

Standard 4 holding up their new books
Do you remember that we did a project in the ECD classes? Well, we had some paint left so we wanted to do something special, a memory, for both us and the pupils. So Wednesday we decided to use the paint left for a small last project. Each pupil from standard 1 up to 4 dipped their hands into their choice of colour to then make their handprint on the wall. The day in honour I was also wearing a white tshirt so that the children could do their handprints on it aswell. It was a wonderful day, there was paint everywhere, on my skin, shoes, trousers, camera and on the ground. But it was totally worth it, the pupils really enjoyed, aswell as myself. Probably the best day since we arrived.

We expected Thursday to be our last day, since the head teacher told us so, but as we are used to by now, the planned changed. So, prepared to say goodbye this day, made us both very emotional anyway. After lunch we were able to hand out a few last items to the staff, which was received very happily. In the afternoon we went home to our two friends in standard 2, Hellen and Vivian, they gave us several humungus avocados and later followed us back home to have a "fika ". A perfect way to end that day.

Imagine that the smallest one on your left, well that one is big. The bigger ones are more like a smaller pumpkin. "Avocado paradise".

Friday, as in yesterday. Was our last day at school (for real this time). The schedule was very unclear, as like the rest of the week, but we had a group photo taken and received several letters from our pupils. We were also given the opportunity to say a few words to the parents of the pupils and say our final goodbyes.
We've had a tuff week mentally, so many feelings, angry, sad, frustrated, annoyed, but the most important, I've been really, really overwelmed with happiness.
