Masai Mara- a great adventure

Last weekend we went to Kisumu, a big city near by. We went to lake victoria, which is the second largest lake in the world so it was a must to see. We got offered a 1 hour boat tour to see the lake and the hippos. It was an amazing experience which made the weekend absolutly perfect. But I'm sure you all know this since I hope you are following my friend's blog? fridhiafrika.blogg.se.

So I'm skipping a few details, I'm a sorry for that, but I just have too much to tell you so I have to make a pick.

I might just tell you that me and Ebbas project were we are trying to improve the children's selfasteem is going well, we resently continued our work I standard  8 and it went good. Allthough we still have a long way to go.

Anyway I will continue. Thursday this week we traveled to Masai  Mara. Masai Mara is one of Africas largest safari. Imagine about 100*100 km large park full of wild animals. It was amazing to say the least. We've seen several lions, giraffes, wild beasts, elephants,  leopards, cheetas.... you name it. We camped in tents during our stay, the tents was luxury tents I must say, it involved a shower, toilet and a sink, all with running water. (Inside a tent?!?!!)

We spent four days in a car looking at  beautiful animals together with a beautiful landscape. Saturday afternoon we also went to a Masai village near by and was shown around by some of the local people here. They showed us a welcoming dance, we got to look inside their houses, I got a burnmark (special for the Masais), and was described how it works in their village. It was truly an inspiring and interesting visit.

Everything had gone smoothly througout the entire four days, we took the most extreme paths and still got home safely everyday, except the last day... " we will take a shortcut" the driver said... and after a period of time we got stuck in the mud. For one hour we struggled together with some of the local  that came for our rescue, after one broken window, one broken shovel and some very tired hard working people we finally made our way back on the road again. But I'm guessing this was part of the adventure, we can just be glad we didn't  get stuck inside the park with the lions running free....

Anyway, I've put up some pictures that will summerize the weekend quite good for you.  It has been an wonderful weekend, a weekend to remember for a very long time.
